Swedish soprano Caroline Ottocan is a member of the ensemble at Staatstheater Nürnberg for the 2025/26 season. She performs Lilly (Innocence) in a new production by Jens-Daniel Herzog, returns as Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte), sings Arminda (La finta giardiniera) under Brigitte Fassbaender, covers Liù (Turandot), and appears as Leitmetzerin (Der Rosenkavalier).
During her time in the International Opera Studio in Nürnberg (2024/25), a defining highlight was stepping in at short notice as Contessa Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro). She also made her studio debut as Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte)under GMD Roland Böer, performed Lucy (Die Dreigroschenoper), and sang the title role in a children’s opera based on Gluck’s Armide.
Her previous repertoire includes Blanche de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites), Eurydice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Elisetta (Il matrimonio segreto), and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), with performances at Neue Studiobühne MDW and Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in Vienna.
Caroline holds a Master’s degree in Opera with highest distinction (“Auszeichnung”) from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), where she studied with Professor Margit Klaushofer and musical director Christoph Meier. She also trained at Vadstena Folkhögskola in Sweden and the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus.
She has received scholarships from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, the Anders Sandrew Foundation, and the Opera Friends in Ystad. She reached the finals of the 10th Heinrich Strecker Wettbewerb Bühne Baden and, in 2024, won first prize at the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg competition, leading to an invitation to perform in the Gala Concert at Schloss Rheinsberg.
